The district's PE4life Academy receives raves in a new book Spark.

TITUSVILLE - The physical education department and PE4life Academy in the Titusville School District are back in the limelight.

Spark, a book by John Ratey on the revolutionary new science of exercise and the brain, gives kudos to the Titusville program as an example of a place where the concepts are put to action. The book was released last month.

Ratey, a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at the Harvard University Medical School, is the author or co-author of eight books. His Titusville connection was developed in the spring of 2005 during a dinner meeting in Naperville, Ill., where the PE4life concept originated.

Tim McCord, the chairman of the district's physical education department and director of the PE4life Academy, attended the dinner along with PE4life Academy directors Phil Lawler and Paul Zientarski.

Cheer squad diaries: Florida

Bryant Gumble and several children's groups such as the Indianna Children's Choir and the Boys and Girls Club were there. It was so exciting to meet and interact with all of them.

Afterwards, we went to the RCA Dome to watch our Florida Gator Basketball team practice. We were amazed at the size of the dome and how many people were there. We were so thrilled to see so many gators fans and many of them asked for our autographs and took pictures with us.
Then, we walked around downtown and grabbed a bite to eat before heading back to Hoops City for another appearance, the Battle of the Bands. Each spirit team and band performed in front of their fans and there was a dance off competition among the mascots. It was a lot of fun.

Even though we didn't win, we still had a blast and are very excited about the upcoming game and events.

Veterans Administration to expand Greeley clinic

The Veterans Administration is moving its Greeley clinic to a larger location later this year.

Operated by the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, the clinic has been open at 2020 16th St. since 1998. According to officials in Cheyenne, the clinic will move to the second floor of the Summit View Medical Commons, 2001 70th Ave., where it will take 10,000 square feet and about double its present location. The move, according to a press release from Cheyenne, will come no later than summer, but a tentative date of March 1 for completion of the space has been set.

Andy Ruben, public information officer at Cheyenne, said services will be expanded and the VA will add additional services for veterans in northeast Colorado once the move is completed.

Hensel Phelps Construction of Greeley is completing tenant finish work on the new location.

Auto GM Adds Wiggle Room to 2010 Volt Deadline

If you go to their site they list the mpg as 24 town, 32 hwy. I'm saying big deal. I have a 93 Oldsmobile 88, it gets 25 town and 30 hwy. How is this hybrid an improvement? It's not. It's there to make people feel like their doing the environment good and there's no benefit from this vehicle at all. .
