Hoping for a baby? Rethink your diet

Home remedies to boost the odds of becoming pregnant include thinking positive thoughts and placing a pink or blue ribbon under a bed pillow, depending on whether a mother-to-be is hoping for a girl or a boy.But women who want to try something with a bit more science behind it can start by changing their eating habits. So say Harvard doctors who recently completed a study on women’s diets and fertility.Their findings suggest that certain foods and lifestyle factors can significantly affect hormone levels and improve fertility in women with ovulation problems — a common cause of infertility, says Dr. Jorge Chavarro, lead author of the study, which was published last month in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology. What he and his colleagues found supports a growing body of evidence that diet can greatly affect hormone levels, particularly insulin, which then affects fertility.

Embassy Row

His life inspired Hungarians under communism and Europeans under Soviet domination during the Cold War, Mr. Somogyi said. As a teenager, Mr. Lantos escaped twice from Nazi labor camps in Hungary, joined the resistance and later fled from a postwar, Soviet-controlled Hungary.

"Tom Lantos was known to be the most energetic congressman, who used his dynamism and strength relentlessly to serve everyone's right to liberty and democracy, regardless of their nationality, race, religion, age or gender," Mr. Somogyi said.

"I have lost a good friend. My wife, Andrea, and the entire staff of the Hungarian Embassy share this sorrow."

Ambassador John Bruton, the European Union's representative in the United States, added, "Europeans everywhere owe him a great debt for his persistent opposition to oppression and for his contribution to the ultimate overthrow of communism."

Americans Abandoning National Parks

While people participating in fewer outdoor activities may get less sunshine, and therefore less vitamin D, Siegel said that you generally get enough sun exposure to make sufficient vitamin D just from walking to the office from your car.

And, while America is "clearly a sedentary society," he doesn't believe an extra visit or two to a national park will cure America's obesity problem.

But Zaradic believes the problem runs deeper than that. "We tend to underestimate how important it is for ourselves and for our kids to get out and play in the dirt and to vacation somewhere like a state park or national park," she said. "We have forgotten how important our relationship with the real world is for our well-being."

Rajat Kapoor to host a quiz show on TV

So does he want to act in TV serials too? "No, never," prompt comes the reply.

"I find the economics of TV industry very bizarre, so I don't have any desire to work in these TV serials, he says.

"I have certain sensibility of cinema and so I deliberately do roles which are more true and real. I don't like characters which come out of Mars," he adds.

So what does he think about his next directorial venture "Mithya," which will hit the theatres next month?

"It is a concept based on a conversation between two mythological characters, i.e Narad and Lord Vishnu. During the conversation Lord Vishnu explains Narad the meaning of 'Maya'. It was from there that I got the inspiration for the script of the film," says Kapoor.

The new-age director, whose films, "Ragu Romeo" and "Mixed Doubles" touched a chord with the critic reveals that he wanted to make the film nine years back with Naseeruddin Shah .
